These guys are genuine pioneers in this crazy little modern farmer movement here abouts. What do you do when you get laid off (even though you thought everything was fine at work) with nothing to back you? Except for Passion. These guys have passion for a couple of things, eachother; evident in every glance and touch and market gardening. A potent combination, which is good because market gardening in the tropics is not easy. Bugs, humidity, heat all mortal enemies of our standard European dietary fair. How does one grow a cabbage or tomato or broccoli when the womb of the surrounding environment seems to reject them at every turn? How does one make this ground fertile and receptive? These are are the questions I took away from this catch up. Also thinking about how we can help build social capital to a degree where we can depend on eachother to buy our thoughts, experience and produce. How do you give value to something sweated over, whether done so in the midday sun or in the depth of the night as one lays in bed. How do we deprogram from, "thou that dost not do with me what I do thus becomes my competition". I know this competitive streak in my own heart has been torn out by Him over the last years, His words ever ringing in my ears, "it is not about you" reinforced by the pain-filled or stony countinenece of friends damaged by my thoughtlessness. Ego is the Enemy wise men say. If we are living organisms that can also create it makes sense that we can create situations that bring life or cause death, to ourselves and others. I for one want to create situations and conditons that create life, and abundance.
Here's to new adventures and starting when you don't know what it will look like at the end. Here's to taking risks and believing in a vision you can only see in your mind's eye. Here's to the dreamer in all of us who craves connection between purpose, mind, body and spirit. Here's to belonging and to tribe. Welcome to the journey.
Alexes rescued a clutch of chicks from certain death! They are doing great. How can something so ugly be so cute 5 minutes later?
